1st Year Check-Ins

Our signature service includes regular one-on-one check-ins designed to keep students on track emotionally, socially, and academically throughout their first year. These sessions are more than just a quick chat—they’re personalized coaching conversations focused on the real challenges college students face during their transition.

Students can choose from a menu of pre-designed focus areas, or we can build a custom plan based on their individual goals and needs. Each session is intentional, topic-driven, and solution-focused.

Sample Focus Topics Include:

  • Academic Engagement: Motivation, time management, and understanding classroom expectations
  • Academic Success: Study strategies, test prep, and concentration techniques
  • Disability Resources: Navigating accommodations, executive functioning, and faculty communication
  • Easing Academic Anxiety: Managing stress, accessing campus mental health resources, and self-care
  • Adjustment & Belonging: Exploring identity, social engagement, and transitional stages
  • Navigational Skills: Understanding campus systems, registration, and using student portals
  • Major & Academic Planning: Decoding majors, minors, concentrations, and academic improvement plans
  • Sophomore Year Prep: Leadership, involvement, and planning for year two
  • Financial Literacy for Families & Students: Understanding bills, academic expenses, and financial aid navigation

Students receive a recommended session path, but they’re always welcome to explore what matters most to them. Whether they’re thriving or struggling, these check-ins create a space for reflection, connection, and informed action.
